Twenty-one kilos of cocaine washed up on shore in Florida near Sandpiper Cove around 11:30 a.m. Sunday, authorities say.
The street value is estimated at $600,000 according to nwfdailynews.com
The drugs were bale wrapped in cellophane with a label that said “Adidas.” Destin Beach Safety noticed the bale and alerted the Sheriff’s Office. Investigators arrived at the scene and took possession of the drugs.
“There’s no telling how far offshore this was or how long it had been floating,” Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Michele Nicholson said.
This is not the first time drugs have washed ashore, Nicholson added.
“We’ve seen large amounts like this before.”
