A husband shot two armed men, killing one, after they forced their way inside his family's home and raped his 92 year old wife Friday night, according to police.
One of the suspected gunmen, whose name has not yet been released, died on the victim's bedroom floor after the husband, 85, shot him.
The second suspect, whose name also hasn't been released, was treated at a nearby hospital and then arrested. He is being held on a $1 million cash-only bond.
In the home were the couples 4 year old and 7 year old grandchildren who managed to sleep through most of the ordeal, were not injured.
The victim originally went outside the home around 9 p.m. Friday to retrieve an item from an outside storage shed. Two gunmen approached her and demanded she walk back into the home with them. Once back inside they beat her and began to rape her according to police.
The husband, who had one of the guns he kept in his vehicle and entered the house, shooting the suspects once he discovered them in the bedroom, police said.
The first suspect who was shot in the back while assaulting the victim died of his injuries inside the home. The second suspect who was shot in the leg and shoulder was held at gunpoint by the husband until police arrived.
