A 27-year-old Pinson Valley High School female teacher has been charged with having sexual contact with a 17-year-old male student.
Jennifer Marie Perry of Odenville is facing a charge of school employee having sexual contact with a student under 19 years old.
Perry told school officials that there was a rumor at the school that she had engaged in a sex act with a male student, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
She denied the rumor, resigned and left Pinson Valley's campus on Feb. 24.
School officials contacted the sheriff's office and detectives began their investigation on Feb. 24, the same day Perry resigned from her job.
Detectives obtained a warrant for Perry's arrest on Friday, March 13 and she surrendered to the Jefferson County Jail on Monday, March 16. She has since posted a $30,000 bond and been released.
Perry is listed as a ninth grade English teacher on the Pinson Valley High School website.
According to her bio, she is married with three dogs, a graduate of Jacksonville State University and was in her first year of teaching at Pinson Valley.
