A teen attacked with rice over a PlayStation 3 dispute is lying in a medically induced coma in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital in Georgia today. Burns cover seventy percent of his body. The 17-year-old boy, who has been identified as Damon Clay of Atlanta, was asleep on a sofa when two friends attacked him with rice and boiling water from a metal pot, according to an April 25, 2015 report by WFTV, .
The alleged assailants are 19-year-old Quintavious Barber and 18-year-old Malik Morton. The teens could face charges of aggravated assault and cruelty to a child stemming from the rice attack incident. Barber and Morton reportedly believed that the victim had stolen a Sony PlayStation 3 game console from them and tossed a pot of boiling rice on the sleeping teen in retaliation. The duo has been placed under arrest.
The teen victim of the rice attack was recently released from jail for burglary charges. Prior to the incident, he had been staying with various friends and family members with no real place to call home. At the time he was burned, he was sleeping at the apartment of a friend, Kentaveus Watson.
A neighbor confirmed that the three teens in the rice attack incident were friends, reported the Daily Mail. "They were friends. Everybody was supposed to be friends," Laprell Grant said.
